Something new, but not so new....

My maya/mental ray  skills have improved some since grad show....I said "some", not alot. Still working with it. But here's a new & improved studio shot of my Bluetrain concept.

First person to ask why the car's not blue gets a shoe thrown at them.

Fun with Ambient Occlusion....

I've become a total CG fanatic.

Oldies but Goodies.

A couple of pre-Art Center sketches I found while cleaning.....

Oscar Schulte is the man.

This is my Pathfinder model, straight off the CNC, milled from 10lb. foam at Schulte Corp.

Something I need to finish....

One of my first freelance clients post-ArtCenter is screenwriter Travis Adam Wright (Eagle Eye) and among other things I'm designing a logo/identity for his new production company Beyond Comics.

The main logo is almost there, a tweak here a tweak there and we'll be good to go....

Something I've been meaning to do...

As some of you know, my Brother-In-Law and good friend is currently at Corcoran State Prison serving three life sentences. In the 10 years that I've known him he has sent me some amazing artwork and I've always felt his work deserves a venue of it's own.....and now I have finally have the time to make that happen. So stay tuned for a new website this Christmas....designed by none other than yours truly.

Time to do some catching up....

Finally have some time to catch up on this blog thing. I haven't really had a break since graduation, it's just been one thing after another...and to be honest I rather like it this way. It's been a couple of months since I closed that last chapter of my life called Art Center, and I'm still finding myself working until 2 in the morning.

But.....for the first time in a long time and I can say that I'm enjoying life.

Love and Marriage, Love and Marriage

Go together like a horse and carriage. Or so I've heard.

For those who don't know, Chamonix and I finally tied the knot two weeks ago after being together for ten years. It's honestly very comforting to know that win lose or draw she'll always be there for me....she's the only thing that matters more to me than Car Design.

Getting ready for Grad Show....

I have so much work to do in the coming weeks I feel like jumping off of a bridge.........then again if I did, who would finish my models?

A couple of teaser shots of some of the projects I'll have a grad show...

Details, Details.

In all honesty I should be done with this by now; but the reality is that I have alot of things going on at the moment and some are a higher priority. Even though they might not be as fun as this project.

So, just an update here. The surface model is finished, you'll notice the design has changed and it is now a biplane. Dave Marek told me from the beginning it should be a biplane and at first I was reluctant but now I'm glad I listened. Now all I have to do is decide on the graphics that are going on the plane....a few trim/divides and I'm done with the modeling part.

Do you know the meaning of "Nemesis"?

Nietzsche stressed need for conflict in the interest of progress. Without conflict, we grow weak and decadent...yes? Can you tell where I'm going with this? Yes, the Baroness needs an enemy...but not only an enemy, she needs a walking talking antithesis to herself.

New artwork from Project Gunfighters....

After having replaced several cartridges of red ink....I decided that the red canson sketches weren't working. I wanted to sketches of the plane to be on white backgrounds to make it easier for me to integrate them into presentation materials later on. I'm much happier now....I have to learn to stop being so damn picky.

The A4 finally gets some love...

Finally got around to doing a few more upgrades to the A4...new shoes as you can see, an 034 snub mount, and last but not least I finally put in some real HID's....6000k VVME's to be specific. I have to say this car has been good to me, I've put almost 100,000 miles on it since I bought it and it never gets old. Click on the picture for a complete mod list...

First images of the Baroness...

Surface Model is almost done, just a few more details and graphics. I did some very basic Alias renderings just to see how the forms read under different lighting situations. The next step is a crash course in Maya, hopefully I'll have some juicy stuff to show you in the coming weeks.

Update: Project Gunfighters

So here is the story, for one reason or another I needed to make up 1 unit of studio credit this semester...so I decided to repeat my Alias II class. My Instructor, Eric Bauer, was gracious enough to let me do an independent project in his class in lieu of the weekly assignments I had already done in his class. So now, Project Gunfighter has gone from a little idea I've been kicking around to a full blown project.

Here is the project's current status...
